Moon Capital is a Venture Capital Fund with an investment policy aimed at promoting female entrepreneurship and gender equality in businesses.

The Fund seeks to foster social characteristics in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 5 (SDG 5 - Gender Equality), focusing on women's empowerment in accordance with internationally recognized standards such as the Women’s Empowerment Principles of the UN Global Compact, as well as the current EU regulations and guidelines on this matter.

Studies have shown that:

• Women in leadership positions increase productivity, foster collaboration, and improve returns.
• The correlation between women in decision-making positions and higher-performing companies improves by 20% compared to companies with gender imbalance.
• Increased gender diversity is driving profit growth for companies.

For this reason, and much more, we believe investing in women is the best way to accelerate this process, enhancing their potential and impact on society and the future.

However, statistics show that existing support tools are often discouraging and act as a barrier to the growth and development of these women. Female entrepreneurs still face significant challenges in accessing capital, as evidenced by the fact that in 2022, only 2% of all venture capital investments went into female leadership projects.

Thus, the creation of a fund dedicated to these women, led by women, with a common, open, inclusive language that supports, encourages, and empowers them to believe in themselves and grow together.

The Fund adopts an agnostic approach to sector and asset type, investing in companies founded, co-founded, or led by women, or those that demonstrate a strong commitment to gender diversity within their teams.

The Fund's objectives are to:

• Support women-led projects at all stages, providing access to capital.
• Empower companies founded, co-founded, or led by women, or those demonstrating a strong commitment to gender diversity.
• Promote women's entrepreneurship by providing networking, training, capital access, and mentoring.
• Generate value by fostering an environment where women entrepreneurs can succeed.

The Fund is multi-sectoral, focusing on specialized opportunities in small and medium-sized capitalization through private equity strategies, including buy-out and growth/mezzanine, as well as venture capital at seed capital, start-up, Series A, Series B, and later-stage secondary rounds, in Portugal, Spain, and other European Union countries.

Depending on the type of investment made, the Fund aims to acquire minority stakes with the capacity to influence and implement the Fund’s investment policy.

Additionally, the Fund meets legal criteria for investments aimed at obtaining residency authorization for investment activities (ARI – Golden Visa), as more than 60% of the Fund’s investments will be made directly in Portuguese companies.
